1925年，赵关克被建国川军收编，成为独立团团长。他血染沙场，坚韧不屈。他的成长道路充满艰辛，他的爱情更是经受了无数的考验。他爱上了护士罗麦，但罗麦爱着周真强。经历了一场场的生死让罗麦渐渐认识了侠肝义胆的赵关克。在国共两党共同致力于北伐伟业时，周真强清共的政治主张越来越明显。这让与之恋爱的罗麦产生了怀疑和动摇。罗麦开始接近地下党组织。在革命力量的感召下，赵关克走上了正确的道路，奔赴南昌参加起义。而罗麦也在不断的认识过程中，爱上了赵关克。周真强则越走越远，最后死在罗麦的枪口下。在去南昌会合的途中，赵关克不幸负了重伤，罗麦背起赵关克，朝着欢呼胜利的人群走去。
