1923年冬。军阀混战，民不聊生。本是佛门境地的净月庵也逃不过这场灾祸，小尼姑无瑕从大火中救出伤重的师太，师太临终前说出无暇本是苏州郁家大小姐的身世。一路逃亡的无暇，偶遇前往苏州经商的霍冬青，冬青不仅救了无暇，还把她送到了苏州。郁家绣坊是颇有名气的刺绣名门，以“凤穿牡丹”技惊天下。正值郁家百年店庆，衣着破烂的无暇突然出现在门口，声称要见父亲。众人震惊，尤其是二小姐芷岚，压根不相信自己有一个当尼姑的姐姐。郁浩廷见到可怜的无暇，竟不由分说命人将其赶出郁府。无暇伤心欲绝，不知父亲为何不认自己茫然离开。郁浩廷看着女儿的背影，一阵心口绞痛。原来，曾有高人算得无暇女生男命，命犯刑克，十八岁之前父女不能相认，否则必有大祸。但经郁母再三恳求，郁浩廷同意寻无暇回府。郁家百年店庆举办刺绣作品展示会，不想一件戏装龙袍竟被人偷换成了真龙袍，众人惊讶之际，军阀胡明仁突然闯入，以保皇党的罪名抓走了郁浩廷。刚回家就遭此变故，无暇惊呆了。为救父亲，无暇向冬青求救，冬青设法救出郁浩廷，但郁老爷已经命垂一线。临终前，郁老爷将郁家家业和家传秘技“凤穿牡丹”传给无暇，引来芷岚的怨恨。郁家出殡当日，胡明仁挑唆债主纷纷上门，多亏冬青及时现身化解了危机，令芷岚一见钟情……
